Here's what it actually looks like to work together.
This page is here to answer the practical questions — how sessions work, what to expect week to week, what I charge, and what I ask of you — so that by the time we get on the phone, we can spend that time on what actually matters: you.
Read it at your own pace. Come back to it. And know that whatever brought you here, it was worth following.
This work is likely right for you if —
You want to understand yourself at a deeper level, not just manage symptoms or cope better
You're curious about your patterns and open to following them back to where they started
You feel high-functioning on the outside but disconnected, exhausted, or stuck underneath
You're ready for a relational, exploratory process that takes time and builds something real
You want a therapist who will actually show up — not just sit quietly and nod
This may not be right for you if —
You're looking for short-term, structured symptom management
You prefer a highly skills-based approach like CBT or DBT
You're in acute crisis and need stabilization first — in that case, I'm happy to help you find the right support
You're looking for a quick fix or expecting significant change in a few sessions
Not sure? That's what the consultation is for. We'll talk it through.
Conversational. Relational. Real.
Sessions are 50 minutes. You're not expected to arrive with a prepared agenda or the right things to say. You just have to show up. Some sessions will feel emotionally deep. Others will feel quieter or more reflective. Both are part of the process.
Follow what's coming up
We talk through what's happening in your life right now and notice the emotional thread underneath it — what's really going on beneath the surface.
Slow down on what matters
When something feels significant, we don't rush past it. We slow down, sit in it, and let it open up. That's often where the real work happens.
Trace the pattern back
Current struggles have roots. We follow them — gently, carefully — back to where they began, so you can understand them instead of just fighting them.
Notice what's in your body
Emotion lives in the body before it lives in words. We pay attention to what's happening physically in real time — that's where the work comes alive.
Work with what's between us
How you show up with me often mirrors how you show up everywhere else. We use our relationship as data — gently, honestly, and with care.
Just be present for it
You don't have to perform healing. You don't need the right words or perfect insight. You just have to be willing to be here. That's enough to start.
How often we meet matters.
Depth work builds momentum. Consistency is what allows the real material to surface — the stuff that doesn't come out when there's too much time between sessions.
Transparent. No surprises.
Payment is due at the time of each session. I accept all major credit and debit cards, plus HSA and FSA cards.
I'm a private pay provider. This is intentional — and I explain why below.
Why I don't take insurance.
Insurance-based therapy comes with requirements that shape the work in ways that don't serve you: diagnoses you have to carry, session limits, and treatment plans built around what a third party decides is "medically necessary." Private pay removes those constraints entirely. Our work is shaped by you — your story, your pace, your goals — not by what an insurance company will approve.
Superbills are available on request if you'd like to seek out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance provider. Exact reimbursement depends on your individual plan.
This is a shared commitment.
You don't need to arrive with the right words, a clear agenda, or perfect insight. You just have to be willing to be here. Here's what makes this work go:
Show up consistently.
Attendance matters more than you might think. Missing sessions disrupts the momentum and the trust that depth work requires. Consistency is how we build something real.
Be honest, even when it's uncomfortable.
You don't have to have everything figured out. You just have to be willing to look — and to say the thing you're not sure you should say. That's usually where we need to go.
Be patient with the process.
Change that lasts doesn't happen in a straight line. There will be sessions that feel slow, or sessions where nothing seems to land. That's part of it. Trust the arc.
Tell me when something isn't working.
I want to know. The therapeutic relationship is not fragile — it can hold honesty. If something feels off between us, that's not a problem to avoid. It's something we can work with.
Not a sales pitch. Just a real conversation.
The consultation is a free 15-minute phone call. We'll talk about what's been going on for you, what you're hoping to get from therapy, and whether the way I work feels like a fit.
You'll get a sense of who I am and how I show up. I'll get a sense of where you are and what you need. There's no pressure to commit. The goal is just clarity — for both of us.

We talk through where you are
You share what's been going on, what you're hoping for, and any questions you have. I share how I work and whether I think we'd be a good fit.
We decide together
If it feels aligned, we schedule your first session and I send over intake paperwork. If it's not the right fit, I'll do my best to point you toward someone who is.
We begin
Your first session is a chance to get to know each other. Gentle, collaborative, no pressure to have it all figured out before we start.
